The whole college experience mattersFrom undergraduate residence halls, orientation activities and student behaviors outside class, to campus safety and inclusivity. From graduate school organizations to family support networks. From application to commencement to alumni. The whole experience does matter.
School can leave us with a great feeling or a nasty taste. For me, helping students engage and grow from the 'whole experience' of college means a whole lot of listening and learning from individuals and groups, a whole lot of auditing current programming and opportunities and a whole lot of intentional building and refining to meet the ongoing need. Student satisfaction leads to student success and student retention and an active student alumni group. These outcomes are indicators of a successful University program. The whole experience does matter. I believe that a positive student experience is based on a intentional and vibrant, inclusive campus community where individuals feel equal in status, share common goals, collaborate and interact across groups and are treated consistently and fairly.
